    Enjoy a full guided ride through the Lake District with motorcycle hire and fully comprehensive insurance included, offering a smooth and hassle-free experience.

  • Own Motorcycle £100.00

    Join the tour on your own motorcycle and enjoy the freedom, comfort, and familiarity of your own machine while still benefiting from a fully guided Lake District ride.

  • Pillion Passenger £50.00

    Ride as a pillion with a paying rider and enjoy the scenery, viewpoints, and full tour experience without needing to operate your own motorcycle during the journey.

  • Riding Gear Hire £4.00 / £8.00 per item

    Optional gear hire is available, including helmets, jackets, pants, and boots at £8.00 per item, plus gloves at £4.00, helping ensure safe and comfortable riding.

Riding & Tour Experience

Yes. All riders must hold a valid motorcycle licence and be confident riding on public roads. Some tours, such as The Passes Ride, are best suited to experienced riders due to the technical nature of the terrain.

Yes, the Solway Coast & North Lakes and South Lakes tours are suitable for riders with moderate experience.

The Passes Ride is best suited to confident, experienced riders due to steep climbs and tight hairpins.

Yes. You’re welcome to ride your own motorcycle if you prefer. Just let us know during booking so we can confirm suitability and insurance requirements.
Yes, pillions are welcome for an additional charge. Please notify us when booking so we can make sure the chosen motorcycle is suitable.

You’ll need suitable motorcycle gear, including helmet, gloves, jacket, trousers, and boots. Riding gear can be hired for an additional charge if required.

Expect a mix of open A-roads, scenic B-roads, rural lanes, and (on certain tours) steep mountain passes with tight bends and gradients.

Tours last around 7 hours, covering roughly 120 miles, with scenic stops, photo opportunities, and time to grab food.

Fuel is not included. Riders are responsible for refuelling their bike during the day.

Our tours run in most weather conditions. If we must cancel due to extreme weather, you’ll be offered a full refund or an alternative date.

Booking & Payment

Yes. If you’d like a private group ride or a custom tour, contact us and we’ll be happy to arrange it.

Yes. Many riders choose to book multiple routes across different days, especially if they want to experience both the scenic loops and the mountain passes.

A deposit may be required depending on the tour. Full payment is due before the tour begins.

Credit card, bank transfer, and cash (GBP).

Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the tour are non-refundable.

No. Submitting the form does not guarantee a booking. A member of the LDMT team will contact you to confirm your details, dates, and availability. Your booking is only confirmed once this process is complete and you receive an official confirmation from Lake District Motorcycle Tours.

You must hold a valid motorcycle licence for the class of motorcycle you wish to hire. This must be a UK licence or an international equivalent recognised in the UK. Riders must have no more than 6 penalty points and no past or pending convictions for drink or drug driving. Please see our Terms & Conditions for full details.

Yes. Fully comprehensive insurance is included with all hired motorcycles. Riders using their own bike must ensure their insurance covers them for group ride-outs.

Yes. Motorcycle tour gift vouchers are available and make an excellent present for riders of all experience levels.
